The success of Jessica Carroll’s round bronze beehives led her to explore new shapes and materials, eventually arriving at the oval.

Her first giant beehive, made entirely of bronze and two meters in diameter, won the Mastroianni Prize in 1994 and has been on display in the main square of Asti ever since. Since then, each beehive she creates is unique.

As the artist explains, small steps and gradual changes over time have guided her toward new ideas and materials. Her interest in Kepler’s laws, music, and elliptical geometries brought her closer to the oval form.

In the 2000s, she began creating elliptical sculptures, overcoming technical challenges thanks to years of experience and the support of skilled artisans who taught her valuable techniques.

Nature and art are deeply interconnected: the oval forms, reminiscent of eggs, symbolically echo the origin of life.
