An exhibition that opens doors and windows

Looking out is a simple, everyday gesture, but it is also a way of looking at the world. We look out of a window to observe a street, step onto a balcony to feel the morning air, or stand at a doorway before entering an unfamiliar space. We look out towards a landscape, towards nature, towards the work of another artist. And, sometimes, we look inward, towards ourselves.

From this idea comes Affacci, the exhibition with which the gallery opens its autumn season, ahead of the art fairs: ten contemporary artists, each with their own way of looking out onto the world.

Each work thus becomes a different vantage point, an invitation to look beyond the first glance and to discover, through different languages and sensibilities, new perspectives on reality.

The exhibition unfolds through several possible “views”:

• On a Garden, through the relationship between art and nature;
• On a City, observed through its architecture, rhythms and transformations;
• On a Memory, when an image becomes memory and memory is transformed into form;
• On Another Artist, through a dialogue that crosses different eras, languages and sensibilities;
• On a Landscape, real or imagined, as both a physical and an inner place;
• Artists in Dialogue, bringing different artistic visions into conversation and revealing unexpected correspondences.

The exhibition features Safet Zec, Mauro Reggio, Giorgioppi, Marzio Tamer, Gianfranco Ferroni, Keisei Kobayashi, Sara Menon and Nicola Villa, joined, for the first time at the gallery, by Fabio Adani and Alessio Vaccari.

Affacci does not therefore arise from a single theme, but from a single gesture: that of looking. Ten artists, ten sensibilities, ten possible openings onto the world.

We are pleased to welcome Fabio Adani to the gallery, an artist to whom we awarded the Gallery Prize as part of the 2024 edition of the Be Natural Be Wild festival.

For his debut at the gallery, Adani presents a series of contemplative watercolors set at the foot of imposing trees, before which one is compelled to adopt a posture of respect and wonder. The silence alluded to in the title is the condition for accessing unexpected visions that emerge through the diversification of materials and the arrangement of the works in diptychs and triptychs.

Accompanying the series are a dozen loose sheets, conceived as diary pages to guide the visitor through the experience.

Three years after her previous exhibition, Salamon Fine Art presents a new series of works by Giorgia Oldano. For this event, the Piedmontese artist, who has long been known for her deep attention to the natural world and, in particular, the imal kingdom, presents a series of powerful and colorful linocuts.

In recent years, her work has undergone a significant evolution: from drawing, the founding practice of her career, she has moved on to linocuts, exploring the expressive potential of engraving and manual printing.

Despite this technical change, her favorite themes remain central: the animal world, investigated with a sensitive and participatory gaze, including both native and exotic species. Her images convey a lively, intense, descriptive presence, charged with symbolic power.

 In a contemporary context in which woodcut printing is a permanent fixture in academies, biennials dedicated to art printing, and the international collectors' market, Giorgia Oldano's research stands out as a conscious and current practice: a choice that is not nostalgic but radical, reaffirming the value of gesture, engraving, and the slow pace of printing.

SILVIA DE BASTIANI

On the occasion of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Sala delle Colonne at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan is hosting Silvia De Bastiani – Water and Peaks. An Olympic Journey Through the Alps, an exhibition conceived specifically for the themes and territories of the Winter Olympics. Painting becomes an immersive, emotional and investigative tool for the Alpine landscape.

The exhibition, curated by Vera Agosti, is produced by the Municipality of Milan and the Federica Galli ETS Foundation.

On display are 30 watercolours, some of them large-format (up to 2.3 x 4.5 metres), dedicated to the venues of the Winter Olympics. Study albums, educational materials and photographs of the artist at work complete the exhibition. The exhibition design, by architect Michele Piva, is elegant and straightforward, highlighting the artist's pictorial virtuosity. A video installation accompanies the public in De Bastiani's gaze and creative process.

Silvia De Bastiani (Feltre, 1981) lives and works in the Primiero valley, in the Trentino Dolomites. One of the most refined interpreters of the contemporary Alpine landscape, she creates monumental watercolours en plein air, often in extreme conditions. Her works offer an immersive, multi-sensory experience, in which light, atmosphere and silence are captured on paper. The mountain becomes a language of identity and living matter, observed with almost scientific rigour and rendered with poetry, precision and profound contemplative capacity.
