Original etching inches 13 x 17,9 (mm 331 x 456)

Original etching, signed on the plate; Fiocco, Marco Ricci e gli incisori bellunesi del '700 e '800, Belluno 1968, p. 9; D. Succi 305.6 IV/IV;

Superb proof, sharp and well inked, printed on coeval "Tre Mezze Lune" paper, typical of the most sought-after Veneto production of the 18th century. Complete with engraved part with small margin all around from 3 to 13 mm. In perfect state of preservation.

The work, printed in its final state, comes from the Loening collection, as indicated by the stamp on the reverse (Lugt L. 4807). Lugt mentions on the collection that it was assembled between the end of the 19th century and the 20th century, without ruling out the possibility that the seal was made at a later date and affixed to an existing collection formed by an ascendant of the Loening family. The native family from the area around Mannheim, initially Jewish and converted to Protestantism in 1847, had in one of its progenitors a significant publisher. At an unspecified time, the collection was divided between the three branches of the family and prints with this stamp have been sold on the German art market since 2000.
