Silvia Molinari

Profile

Watercolorist

Born in Piacenza in 1976, Silvia Molinari graduated in decorative techniques at the Paolo Toschi Art Institute of Parma. She lives in the Emilia countryside, in a house surrounded by fields and its rhythms. Her artistic path includes the study and experimentation of different pictorial disciplines, but it is perhaps through the watercolor that she best expresses her artistic view. The combination of the simplest elements (water, pigment and graphite on paper) are, through her graphic sign, the best interpreter of the subjects that she most loves to paint, reinventing them: shrubs, vegetal fragments, leaves and spontaneous flowers that seem to have slipped for a moment on the whiteness of the paper; great is her interest in weeds, minute and tenacious, heroines of the third landscape synthesized by Gilles Clément. Her watercolors born with the elbows pointed on the window sill looking out, rummaging in the drawers, gathering things, walking, perhaps getting lost.
A renewed curiosity for the world of illustration led her to realize, together with the writer Alessia Napolitano, the book "Il Cosario", wunderkammer of childhood and not only, presented at the Bologna Book Fair 2016 and published by Edizioni Corsare .

Among the exhibitions, personal and collective, in which she took part: in 2011, the Venice Biennale in the regional headquarters of Emilia Romagna, invited by the journalist Camillo Langone who then selected her for the portal "Excellent Painters"; Affordable Art Fair in New York and Milan; in Tokyo, at the Ginza 1 Chome gallery, with the Galleria San Francesco in Reggio Emilia; JGO Gallery, Park City - Utah.

She illustrated the agenda of the magazine Gardenia, exceptionally for three times,  for the years 2011, 2017 and 2010

Also in 2017, she created the works that animated the LIPU National Assembly in Parma, the Birds In Europe 3 scientific conference with an urban artistic event, a project curated by the Kreativehouse studio.
In 2019 the excellent brush company Borciani and Bonazzi dedicated her an innovative line of brushes, the 700 Series, refined through their respective skills.
